Yes having large pads/interface will definitely affect your oil sales. Oil has a tendency to cling to solids so if you have pads you have oil tied up in it. It may not look like oil is trapped in interface from the surface but if you were to treat these pads and dissolve the acid solubles oil would migrate to top of tank breaking away from interface.
